I discovered I love the earthy, woody smelling essential oils. They remind me of my dad, camping, and Lake Tahoe. Arbovitae all that in a 5 mL bottle.
The Where From
This doTERRA essential oil is sourced from Canada and comes from a tree called the Western Red Cedar. It's an evergreen coniferous tree that can possibly live forever. Some are over 800 years old which is why it's called the "tree of life." I love that doTERRA partnered with a distiller that sustainably sources the oil from the existing timber industry. They take the leftover sawdust, extract the oil from it and then the remains are turned into paper. SAWDUST > OIL > PAPER = NO WASTE. So great.
The What For and How To
One reason this tree lives so long is that bugs don't like it. So it makes sense that we can use the oil as a natural insect repellent. Before you go hiking, put a drop on your wrists and ankles. To keep bugs out of the house put a few drops in a diffuser.
Arborvitae also prevents wood from rotting. Again, explaining the long life of this amazing tree. Mix 4 drops of it with 2 drops of Lemon essential oil and 8 oz of water in a glass spray bottle and use it as a natural wood cleaner and preservative.
You can also use Arborvitae to clean, purify and protect your loved ones from environmental and seasonal threats. Add some to a diffuser and let it go to work.
The Oil of Divine Grace. Arborvitae is for people who think and act like that progress is only made through struggling. It invites people to live with peace and joy by trusting in the abundant flow of divine grace.
Arborvitae essential oil blends well with Birch, Cedarwood, Cassia, Cinnamon Bark, and Eucalyptus.
