Basil

Ah - the aroma of fresh basil is so amazing.  I love to burry my face in it and take a deep breath.  Who can resist pesto, bruschetta and caprese with the beautiful addition of basil?

The Where From

The use of basil in Egypt goes back more than 5,000 years.  Today doTERRA sources it right here in the United States.  This herb is from the mint family.  The oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the plant.

The What For and How To

Be brave and add Basil essential oil to food for a fresh, herbal flavor.  Yes, you can cook with doTERRA's Basil oil.  Not all essential oils are ingestible but this one is.  Consider adding it to sauces for meats or pasta.  Add it to bread dips and salad dressings.  Here's a recipe for Basil Spinach Pesto.  Also check out the video below for a pasta recipe.

Put in the diffuser when you're trying to focus or reduce anxious feelings or tension.  You can also put it on the back of your neck to help relieve stress, fatigue and low energy.

Basil oil can also help with skin irritations.  I put a drop on a bug bite that was starting to get carried away and by the next morning it had calmed down.

And here you go ladies - pass this on:  Basil oil eases monthly feminine discomfort.  I suggest breathing it from the bottle, adding it to something you're eating or put it right on you abdomen.

Emotional Support

The oil of renewal.  Basil is for those whose mind and body are burned out or exhausted.  Basil oil brings strength and will help with the ability to to cope.  It will help with recovery of negative habits like false stimulants or substance abuse.
